Orange Luxembourg and Silicon Luxembourg are renewing their partnership to offer a new season of the series The Elevator. The concept is now well known. Eight luxembourgish start-ups are invited to introduce themselves - to give what is known in business jargon as their "elevator pitch" - in front of the camera, as they ride up the Pfaffenthal lift in Luxembourg City.

For this fourth season, The Elevator will be showcasing innovative entrepreneurial structures from the world of research.

Bertrange, 08 February 2024 - Over the course of its first three seasons, The Elevator series, launched by Orange and Silicon Luxembourg, has showcased 28 innovative entrepreneurial projects.

"In the world of start-ups, one of the challenges is to present yourself convincingly to third parties in a very short space of time. It's considered that you have the length of a lift ride to explain your project, with a view to convincing a potential customer, partner or investor. In the jargon, this is known as the Elevator Pitch", explains Charles-Louis Machuron, founder and CEO of Silicon Luxembourg.

In 2020, with the support of Orange Luxembourg, in order to showcase young Luxembourg entrepreneurial projects, we decided to create an original series that played with the codes of the start-up world. We invited start-ups to give their elevator pitch on camera in a real lift, in this case the Pfaffenthal lift, which offers a breathtaking view of the Alzette Valley in the heart of the capital".

These videos, which showcase the entrepreneurial ideas and talent being born and bred in Luxembourg, are broadcast on RTL Play, RTL Today and YouTube. They are also relayed by Silicon Luxembourg and Orange.

The fourth season focuses on research

The fourth season of "The Elevator" has decided to focus on a specific category of start-ups. The eight projects that will be presented in this new series of videos, the first of which was broadcast on 1 February, all stem directly from projects carried out in Luxembourg's public research institutions.

"In recent years, Luxembourg has invested considerably in academic and applied research, enabling innovative concepts to emerge. Many spin-offs have emerged from projects carried out at public research centres such as LIST or within the University and its interdisciplinary research centres such as LCSB or SnT. These entrepreneurial projects enable the fruits of research and innovation to be transferred to society," explains Hélène Jacuszin, Marketing & Communication Coordinator at Research Luxembourg.

For this fourth season, we wanted to highlight players that at the crossroads of science and innovation, with projects at the cutting edge of technology," explains Charles-Louis Machuron.

Entrepreneurs at the cutting edge of knowledge

This fourth season will introduce you to start-ups active in a wide range of fields, including health, biomedicine, earth and environmental observation technologies, LegalTech and data analysis.

"Through this partnership, Orange Luxembourg is committed to supporting the development of an innovative entrepreneurial ecosystem in Luxembourg. We can see that the country is full of incredible ideas and entrepreneurs at the cutting edge of knowledge. They are driven by a strong desire to contribute to a society that is both innovative and sustainable," comments Barbara Fangille, Head of communication, Orange Luxembourg. Our aim is to be at their side, to enable them to present themselves to a wider audience, and to take advantage of new opportunities that will enable them to grow in a sustainable way.

Every year, Orange encourages innovation on a daily basis through, in particular, its own start-up accelerator, Orange Fab. Since 2017, Orange Fab has supported Luxembourg start-ups implementing technologies in the fields of Big Data, Artificial Intelligence, virtual or augmented reality, the Internet of Things, etc.
