Bertrange, December 9th 2020

On the 11th and 12th of December 2019, at the "European Convention Center Luxembourg", Orange Luxembourg offers to discover 5G through unique demonstrations.

5G is a truly disruptive network, promising 10 times the capacity of 4G. This network is so responsive that it allows all uses in real time, and it is a great opportunity for innovation for various industrial sectors.

Today's event in Luxembourg is an opportunity to demonstrate the potential of 5G technology. Users will also be able to enjoy new formats such as 4K, 8K, HDR (High Dynamic Range) and 360° video.

Orange is offering 9 innovative demonstrations in 5G mode:

  • Real-time 5G network "slicing", a graphical interface showing how Orange controls and manages network slicing, based on real-time traffic and service levels.

  • The balance of a robot in 5G, when the latency exceeds a certain threshold (decrease in network responsiveness) the robot will not be able to maintain its balance and falls.

  • My advisor in 5G mode, with the augmented reality glasses, visitors can interact with the hologram of an Orange advisor based in another location, in real time, without leaving the stand.

  • A 5G video immersion in 8K, visitors will live a new experience during a concert of the band "Bluemen" in 360° and in 8K video.

  • A 5G Virtual Reality experience, an extraordinary real-time experience in immersion and streaming.

  • Artificial intelligence identification in 5G, a drone sends video streams via 5G to a laptop and an algorithm identifies objects by itself in real time.

  • Robot synchronisation in 5G, three robotic arms communicate via a centralised cloud that controls and coordinates the management of the electromechanical arms to perform synchronised operations.

  • 5G Fun, a physical and virtual ping pong table experience invites you to experience the capabilities of 5G with ultra-low latency and exponentially higher speeds in a hands-on gaming application.

  • Public transport traffic management in the cloud in 5G, a multitude of data can be monitored, measured, displayed all kind of useful information such as delays between different bus stops, average speed, traffic jams, and many others depending on the desired uses.

Corinne Loze, CEO - Orange Luxembourg

"We believe that 5G is a step that will bring a lot of disruption in innovation. In a very responsible way, we want our customers to benefit from the developments of the artificial intelligence and Internet of Things era. All this with the aim of participating in a new form of digital society"
