The Luxembourg operator is the first to deploy the new generation of wireless network on the market. The technology will allow for higher bandwidth, up to 46 Gbit/s, and will reduce latency times. It offers the capacity to connect more devices while ensuring users an optimal experience.

Within our homes, the number of connected devices is significantly increasing as digital usage develops. To support these new needs, the home network, specifically the WiFi connection, must also be strengthened. In this context, to address the evolving demands, Orange Luxembourg announces the arrival of Wi-Fi 7 in Luxembourg. “We are very pleased to bring this new generation of network to Luxembourg, both in our customers' homes and for the businesses that trust us,” explains Christophe Van Yck, the new Fiber Network Director of the operator. With considerably enhanced performance, Wi-Fi 7 is an essential evolution, enabling us to meet current and future digital usage.

Faster, more robust

Compared to the previous generation of wireless networks, Wi-Fi 7 improves the connected experience for users in the same household or work environment. “The connection speed, which can reach 46 Gbit/s, is four times higher than that offered by the previous generation,” continues Christophe Van Yck. The experience and connection speed are particularly enhanced by the ability to use multiple different frequency bands for connectivity. Users benefit from significantly reduced latency, or response time.

Multiplying connected devices

The increased capacity of the network enabled by the WiFi 7 standard allows for easier connection of a larger number of devices. “In our living spaces, permanently connected elements are rapidly multiplying. Beyond smartphones, laptops, tablets, and connected TVs, many other devices allow for control of heating, lighting, and electricity management. The bandwidth needs of these devices are also significantly increasing. It is important that the network can evolve to ensure the proper functioning of ecosystems,” continues the Network Director of Orange Luxembourg. The introduction of Wi-Fi 7 to the market meets current needs and anticipates the future needs of our customers.

Accelerating the deployment of technology

Orange Luxembourg is the first operator in the country to make Wi-Fi 7 accessible. To achieve a rapid deployment of this technology, it has notably benefited from the group's innovation capacity at the international level. "The goal is to make the most advanced technologies accessible as quickly as possible," comments Corinne Lozé, CEO of Orange Luxembourg. Orange connects over 14.3 million customers with Fiber across Europe. Today, our customers can benefit from Wi-Fi 7. This development aims to better meet market needs and support innovation in the country."

"The deployment of Wi-Fi 7 is part of our ongoing efforts to improve our customers' connectivity, with the implementation of a fiber network recognized as one of the most efficient in Europe, as well as the launch of the 10 Gbit/s Fiber service last autumn," adds Corinne Lozé.
