Eternelle Notre-Dame
Press release

March 1st 2023 - 5:00pm

Orange Luxembourg announces the presence of " Éternelle Notre-Dame ", a unique virtual reality experience to visit the Notre-Dame de Paris cathedral in Luxembourg. A technological challenge that allows you to dive into the history of the construction of this architectural masterpiece via a VR headset, " Éternelle Notre-Dame " will be accessible free of charge to the general public from 2 to 19 March 2023, at the VR Pavilion of the Film Fund Luxembourg as part of the Luxembourg City Film Festival.

Bertrange, 01 March 2023 - In March 2023, in Luxembourg, experience a unique and exciting expedition through the history of Notre-Dame de Paris. " Éternelle Notre-Dame " is a technological challenge that will allow the public to immerse themselves in the heart of this architectural masterpiece. Equipped with a virtual reality headset, visitors will explore Notre-Dame de Paris in a fully digital recreation. With a short 10-minute experience, in French and English, visitors will experience a real emotional journey through the secrets of the monument. "Eternal Notre-Dame" will be accessible to the public at the Film Fund Luxembourg's VR Pavilion during the Luxembourg City Film Festival, located at the Abbey of Neimënster, from 2 to 19 March 2023.

An original and unique creation in Luxembourg

To develop this unique work, Orange has surrounded itself with renowned partners including Amaclio Productions, Emissive, a pioneer in "immersive expeditions", as well as Bruno Seillier, scriptwriter and artistic director. Initially opened at the Espace Grand Arche de la Défense in Paris in early 2022 and more recently under the square of Notre-Dame Cathedral in Paris, "Eternelle Notre-Dame" is now being offered to the general public outside France for the first time.

An exploration of the possibilities offered by virtual reality

"Beyond the entertainment that virtual reality experiences in 5G represent, our desire is also to show the educational interest of these experiences as well as the democratisation of access to culture that these technologies promote", explains Barbara FANGILLE, Head of Communication of Orange Luxembourg.

Today, Notre-Dame de Paris is unfortunately no longer accessible to the public. Thanks to this experiment, a hundred or so Luxembourg high school students, accompanied by their teachers, will be welcomed to Neimënster Abbey and will be able to discover the history of Notre-Dame de Paris in a new way. "We are delighted to be able to offer this experience as part of the VR Pavilion, alongside the other selected works", concludes Barbara FANGILLE.
