The 5th season of the Orange eleague is launched

Press release

Press release

November 19th, 2024 - 5pm

The Luxembourg Football Federation (FLF) and Orange announce the launch of the fifth season of their e-sports competition, Orange eleague, the only official national competition on the game EA SPORTS FC25. Registrations for this new season open today, Tuesday, November 19, and will close on December 5.

The 5th season of the Orange eleague comes with new developments promising exciting matchups. Players will compete this year on FC25, the latest title from EA Sports, succeeding FC24. After the qualification phases, 16 players will compete for the championship title and access to prestigious international competitions.

This competition is in collaboration with Luxembourg football clubs.

Each participant can represent one of the Luxembourg football clubs and must register through that club, strengthening the link between traditional football and the e-sports world. “The competition retains its individual format this year,” explains Gilles Faber, Head of Esports at the FLF. “This model, imposed by EA Sports, promotes simplified organization while maintaining a strong connection with Luxembourg clubs.”

Football clubs from all divisions are invited to participate by registering at least one representative. “Last year, we gathered around a hundred players. We hope to welcome even more for this fifth season, integrating more clubs from our federation. This year, clubs are allowed to register two individual players to reward their commitment and participation over the past four years,” adds Gilles Faber.

Players not affiliated with a club can contact the FLF to be connected with a participating club. An information session will be held on December 5 to guide candidates and clubs through the process.

Qualification for the eChampions League

The qualification phases for the Orange eleague Season 5 will take place in December, selecting the 16 best players who will participate in the regular season from February to April, culminating in a grand final. This year, the stakes are high: the winner will have the opportunity to participate in the UEFA eChampions League, securing a spot in the group stage to compete against top European clubs like Bayern Munich and Real Madrid. They will also earn a place in the World Cup qualification phases, representing Luxembourg.

Professional Support and Preparation

Throughout the season, qualified players will receive professional support to prepare for the competition and develop their skills. “We want to encourage Luxembourgish talents, support them, and help them progress to the highest level on the international stage,” states Barbara Fangille, Head of Communication at Orange Luxembourg. “Year after year, we are very proud to see the evolution of players like ‘Ivanilson,’ a three-time winner of the Orange eLeague.” The Orange eLeague will continue to rely on partners offering training to qualified players, preparing them to better manage competition pressure, excel against opponents, and prepare for a potential professional career.

An Event Accessible to the Public

In its mission to promote e-sports and its talents, the Orange eLeague, the only official national competition on EA SPORTS FC25, will broadcast each match of the regular season live on Twitch from a 3D studio in Differdange. The grand final will also be held in public and broadcast on a larger scale to provide increased visibility for this discipline.

To participate in the Orange eleague Season 5, players are invited to register via this form.
