News
June 7th, 2023 - 4pm
The parks are filling up, the terraces are packed and the sun is giving us a burst of colour. This time, summer is definitely back. Like every year, Luxembourg offers a wide choice of ways to make the most of the fine weather. Music festivals, festive terraces or bike rides? We've put together a list to keep you busy all season long.
We're kicking off the festivities with the best places to enjoy a cool drink on a terrace or rooftop. The capital of the Grand Duchy is full of great bars and restaurants offering a warm atmosphere, and some with a perfect view of the sunset.
Afterwork is a celebration!
Gudde Wëllen bar will be delighted to welcome you with its terrace decorated with garlands of lights, giving a breathtaking view of the Grund.
For those who like to accompany their drinks with a hamburger, Scott's Pub has a terrace overlooking the Alzette.
At the very top of the Sofitel Luxembourg le Grand Ducal, L'observatoire is the place to be for an afterwork party with a bird's eye view of the whole capital.
For fans of Mediterranean flavours, Bazaar Bar and Restaurant is the perfect place to enjoy a happy hour with some Greek or Persian mezzes.
We finish with the classic Amore Bar Restaurant. Located in the rue du Marché-aux-Herbes, this atypical bar with its retro and vintage style is the ideal place for a late night in the heart of the Upper Town.
A musical summer
After two years of crisis due to the pandemic, Den Atelier 2022 had a successful ending, selling around 190,000 tickets, an increase of 691% on the previous year. So it comes as no surprise that Luxexpo Open Air, a series of summer concerts, has been renewed for a 2023 edition. This year's headliners include industry heavyweights such as American singer Lizzo, rock band Arctic Monkeys and Robbie Williams, back on stage after a 5-year absence.
The venue will also be continuing its concert programme at Rockhal or Neimenster, with concerts by Christine and The Queens, Machine Gun Kelly, Macklemore and more...
A walk to enjoy the sunset
Why pay for an activity when you can enjoy the sun as it goes to sleep? There are plenty of places where you can enjoy a beautiful view of the city, and even more so when that view is accompanied by a sunset. Here are the spots to appreciate a magical moment:
The Adolphe Bridge or the Place de la Constitution
The Chemin de la Corniche and its view of the Grund
Saint-Esprit Street, who will lit up with colorful lanterns
The Lac de la Haute-Sûre, famous for the natural landscape that surrounds it, take advantage of nature to admire the last hours of the Sun.
A wish to dive in ?
The Grand Duchy is full of areas where you can swim safely, or relax by sunbathing near the water.

Fancy an ice cream?
It's a proven fact that the summer months encourage us to eat healthier food. Fresh salads, seasonal fruit platters and other dishes do our bodies good... But then there's that weekend ice cream.
Despite the calories, it is definitely a must in the heat, whether it's water-based or cream-based. Here's our selection of Luxembourg's favorite Gelato.
Nïce, located at 128 avenue du Dix Septembre
Glacier Bargello, 13 rue du Fort Elisabeth
Bonomeria Gelateria Artigianale, 4 rue Wurth-Paquet
Smoojo Frozen Yogurt, 11C avenue de la Porte-Neuve
A festive summer
June 23rd
The only public holiday this month, 23 June is the country's big bank holidays (or Lëtzebuerger Nationalfeierdag). Like all heritage celebrations, this one brings customs, traditions and celebrations. For the occasion, the capital's municipal park will have lots of outdoor activities and games. The day will conclude with the traditional fireworks display.
August 23rd to September 11th
This is the country's biggest funfair, the Schueberfouer. Every year there are food trucks, luxembourgish gastronomy, rides, games, etc... A great way to round off the summer holidays.
