Apple recently unveiled its brand new iPhone lineup for the end of 2025, marking an important milestone in the evolution of its smartphones. Consisting of four distinct models: the iPhone 17, iPhone Air, iPhone 17 Pro, and iPhone 17 Pro Max, this range demonstrates Apple's commitment to offering devices that are increasingly powerful, durable, and tailored to the diverse needs of its users. In this article, we will analyze each model in detail, including their technical specifications, innovations, and a price comparison to better understand these new products.
First of all
Apple's 2025 lineup stands out with several major new features. First, the introduction of the A19 Pro chip in the iPhone Air, a new model, demonstrates Apple's commitment to offering an ultra-slim smartphone without compromising on power. Next, the Pro models feature a new forged aluminum design, more robust, with an innovative cooling system using a vapor chamber. The range also includes larger screens, up to 6.5 inches for the iPhone Air, and full compatibility with 120 Hz ProMotion technology, now accessible on all models, including the entry-level.
Photographic innovations are also at the heart of this new lineup, with 48-megapixel sensors on all rear cameras, supporting ProRes RAW for videographers seeking a more professional look. The increased durability thanks to the second-generation Ceramic Shield, improved thermal management, and a new exclusive orange color for the Pro range (we are honored by this color choice) make these devices both stylish and high-performing.
Technical details and features by model
iPhone 17: Simplicity and Performance
The iPhone 17 maintains a classic design but with several notable improvements. Its 6.3-inch screen, protected by Ceramic Shield 2, offers increased scratch resistance and reduced reflections. The major new feature is the integration of 120 Hz ProMotion, previously reserved for Pro models, ensuring exceptional fluidity for navigation, gaming, or video playback. The maximum brightness now reaches 3,000 nits outdoors, making it easier to use in bright sunlight.
Inside, the A19 chip promises more power and longevity, while the N1 chip improves Wi-Fi and Bluetooth connectivity. Battery life is also increased, with up to 30 hours of video playback, and fast charging allows reaching 50% in just 20 minutes. The rear camera consists of two 48-megapixel sensors, a wide-angle and an ultra-wide-angle, while the front camera is upgraded to 18 megapixels with Center Stage functionality.
This model is available in five colors: lavender, sage, mist, white, and black, with storage options starting at 256 GB.
iPhone Air: The New, Slim, and Lightweight Model
The iPhone Air stands out with its ultra-slim design, only 5.64 mm thick, and a lightweight of 165 grams. Its 6.5-inch ProMotion-compatible display offers an immersive visual experience, enhanced by always-on display support and a maximum brightness of 3,000 nits. The recycled titanium back cover, combined with a titanium frame, ensures remarkable durability.
This model features a single 48-megapixel rear sensor in a distinctive oval shape, and an 18-megapixel front camera with Center Stage. Power comes from the A19 Pro chip, the fastest among all Apple smartphones, with a 5-core GPU. Connectivity is handled by the N1 chip supporting Wi-Fi 7, Bluetooth 6, and Thread network, as well as the Apple C1X modem, twice as fast as that of the iPhone 16.
The iPhone Air is the first to omit a physical SIM tray, offering only eSIM. Its battery life is estimated at 27 hours of video playback, with an external MagSafe battery option extending it to 35 hours. It is available in four colors: sky blue, light gold, cloud white, and sidereal black, with three storage options: 256 GB at €1,229, 512 GB at €1,479, and 1 TB at €1,729.
iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max: The Premium Range
The Pro models feature a new forged aluminum design, more robust and better suited for thermal management thanks to a vapor chamber. Their screens, protected by Ceramic Shield 2, can reach peak brightness of 3,000 nits. The new vapor chamber maintains optimal temperature even during intensive use like gaming or video recording.
Both models have three 48-megapixel sensors, including a telephoto lens with 4x optical zoom at 48 megapixels or 8x at 12 megapixels. Support for ProRes RAW adds a new dimension for professional video. The main difference is battery life: the Pro Max reaches up to 40 hours, a record, compared to 31 hours for the Pro, thanks to a larger battery.
The Pro Max also stands out with a 2 TB storage option, a first for an iPhone, priced at €2,479. The two models are available in three colors: silver, cosmic orange, and intense blue, with prices ranging from €1,329 to €1,829 for the Pro, and from €1,479 to €2,479 for the Pro Max.
Conclusion: An Ambitious and Innovative Range
This new Apple lineup confirms the brand's goal to offer increasingly powerful, durable, and versatile devices. With the iPhone 17, Apple democratizes 120 Hz ProMotion technology while doubling the base storage capacity. The iPhone Air is positioned as a true revolution with its ultra-slim design, exceptional power, and absence of a SIM tray. Finally, the Pro and Pro Max models deliver top-tier performance, especially in photography and battery life, with particular attention to thermal management and durability.
These innovations, combined with competitive pricing and varied storage options, should appeal to a broad audience—whether photography enthusiasts, gamers, or those simply seeking a powerful and stylish smartphone. Availability is scheduled for September 19, after pre-orders starting September 12, marking a new chapter for the 2025 iPhone lineup.
