Orange Luxembourg is innovating by launching Fiber to the Room (FTTR), a first in the Grand Duchy. This solution allows the deployment of fiber optic in all rooms while minimizing the impact on the interior. Thinner and more flexible, it can be deployed more quickly and easily in all rooms, even in complex environments where thick walls, often found in Luxembourg, can pose obstacles to Wi-Fi.

Luxembourg, December 17, 2025 – With Fiber to the Room (FTTR), fiber optic connectivity no longer stops at the router: it extends into each room thanks to transparent fiber, a technological innovation. By bringing this solution to the Luxembourg market, Orange is innovating with the aim of providing a seamless internet experience, free from performance loss due to distance or physical obstacles within homes.

Ensuring optimal connection performance everywhere.

“This innovation now offers the possibility to fully enjoy a very high-speed internet connection, with no dead zones or speed loss,” affirms Christophe VAN YCK, Head of Network & Strategic Projects at Orange Luxembourg.

The principle involves deploying a fiber network throughout the house, starting from a network switch positioned next to the router. Extremely thin cables containing fiber are installed in different rooms. The solution is discreet. The cables, almost invisible, follow the skirting boards and door frames. The installation is quick and adaptable to all types of interiors, without invasive work.

A discreet and easy-to-implement solution
“The wired solution based on transparent fiber guarantees consistent connection performance in all rooms, whether it’s an office or a residence,” continues Christophe VAN YCK. “It offers multi-gigabit speeds from basement to attic, without performance loss, even when moving away from the router. FTTR also provides ultra-low latency, ideal for online gaming or video conferencing, and ensures connection stability even when multiple devices are connected simultaneously.”

As connected devices multiply in our environments, the transparent fiber used in FTTR ensures ultra-high speeds for all applications requiring quality connectivity, whether for remote work or leisure.

FTTR is a technical solution that Orange Luxembourg’s teams can install for all fiber subscribers of the operator. For customers with a Livebox Fibre plan, only labor and equipment are charged, with no additional subscription. Costs vary depending on the installation and the length of fiber to be deployed at the customer’s premises.

Innovating to enable everyone to enjoy the best of fiber

“With this solution, our goal is to continue improving each of our customers’ fiber connections, as we have been doing for several years,” adds Christophe VAN YCK. “Our fiber connectivity has recently been recognized as the most efficient and highest quality on the Luxembourg market*. The arrival of the Livebox 7 in the Grand Duchy last August also contributes to enhancing our users’ experience.”**
