What is the PIN code and PUK code?

The PIN code

Consisting of 4 digits, is the access code to your SIM card, and therefore your access code to the Orange network. PIN stands for Personal Identification Number.

You must enter this code every time you switch on your mobile.

As your PIN code is secret, it is displayed on your mobile screen in the form of small stars or other symbols.

The PUK code

Which stands for Personal Unblocking Key, is an 8-digit code used to unlock your SIM card if you have entered the wrong PIN code three times in a row.

You can find your PUK code on the card to which your SIM card was attached.

The PUK code can also be found under the silver layer of your SIM card.

You can also find it at any time in your Orange Customer Area on the homepage by clicking on the "More" button in the box associated with your line, then open "Device and SIM info" and click on "View code".

If you have any further questions, please call us on 800 61 606 (free national number) or +352 661 061 606 if you are abroad.

Orange tips:

Would you like to change your PIN code?

We advise you to secure your mobile phone with a PIN code and to change it into a personal code.

Some devices allow you to change the PIN code directly in the phone menu.

If this option is not listed, you can change your PIN code manually by following the following procedure: Enter the following combination on your mobile phone: ** 04*OLD PIN*NEW PIN*NEW PIN# followed by the call key.

Would you prefer not to have to enter your PIN code when you switch on your mobile?

You can simply deactivate this protection.

However, you run a greater risk of unauthorised use of your SIM card.

This is because you run a greater risk in the event of theft, as anyone can use your mobile.
